DENVER, March 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Dr. Neil Johnson, President of William Howard Taft University, announced today that the University has received approval from its parent, The Taft University System, to offer significant opportunity grants for the Master of Education and Doctor of Education Programs.

The online Master of Education Program is a practical, directed independent study program which emphasizes course work in educational foundations, leadership, and instruction, with optional concentrations in Montessori Education.

The online Doctor of Education Programs are practical, directed independent study programs which emphasize course work in educational leadership and management, with specific concentrations including: Charter School Administration, Technology and Leadership, and K-12 Administration.

Regarding Charter Schools, Dr. Barry P. Resnick, Dean of Taft’s Graduate School of Education, said, «Charter Schools are increasing in number and size.  With the growing dissatisfaction of public school education in general, their numbers are expected to exponentially increase in the next decade.  The responsibilities of managing a charter school are dramatically different than administering a regular public school.  Charter school administrators require many of the same skills as small business owners – skills not taught in traditional Ed.D. Programs.» By providing optional concentrations in Charter School Administration, we hope to encourage the growth of choice in public schools.

Dr. Johnson commented that in setting tuition levels, «the University recognizes the fact that most charter schools operate on very tight budgets.»  Therefore, for Ed.D. students enrolling on or before May 1st, 2017 total tuition for the program can be less than $10,000, and for M.Ed. students enrolling before July 15th, 2017, total tuition for the program will be $5,500.

All coursework is performed 100% online with no residency requirements.
